Biography
Artist Tracy Ostmann-Haschke is a native of rural
Missouri. She attributes her
development as an artist to being raised in a family of craftsmen and women
artisans. Two grandfathers were wood workers creating grandfather clocks and
furniture while both grandmother and great grandmother were ceramic artists and
painters. When the last of her
inspiring relatives had passed when she was 17 Tracy had inherited her
grandmother’s oil paints. It was at that time she made her first oil
painting. She went on to obtain
her BFA in painting and drawing from Webster University in St. Louis Missouri
then proceeded to Chicago where she received a Post Baccalaureate certificate
from The Art Institute of Chicago.
In 1998 Tracy began a decorative painting business. This allowed her to
earn a living while she continued to focus on her paintings. Her work is a sort
of diary in that it tends to parallel events in her personal life. Tracy works
and resides in Garfield Park with her husband Paul, daughter Morgan and son
Beckman.
